Founded in 2020, UpRights is a non-profit organisation (Stichting) based in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Our mission is not controversial – human rights and international law must be respected, victims must be empowered, and perpetrators held to account. We use our experience in international humanitarian, criminal and human rights law to develop and support meaningful partnerships with those most capable of ensuring change, including those most affected by human rights violations.

This can take many forms, including documenting and analysing human rights violations, building the capacity of our partners to identify and pursue legal pathways to ensure accountability, supporting the prosecution and adjudication of international crimes or providing expertise for the advancement of rule of law-based frameworks. Through these processes we leverage our unique experience to help those best positioned to assist those most affected by human rights violations, international crimes, conflict, or instability.
